Normal Sale

From the Main Menu in Retail:

  • 1 POS, 1 POS Selling, Seller Log On
  • Add the product as normal. You will be prompted to Scan Serial #
  • Scan or type in the serial number. If the serial number is ‘recognised’ the sale will proceed as normal.

NB:  If you know what the serial number is but the item is too large to bring to the counter, press Enter to get a list of available/known serial numbers to select from.

  • If the serial number you scan is "unknown" (e.g. not previously entered into the system) an empty Serial number list will appear. You can press F3 [Add] to add, use and record this number. Sales details about the item will be added to the Serial Number history. Other details (e.g. when it was received) can be added later – see the "Adding/Editing serial number details" section.
  • If the serial number is not known/available at time of sale (e.g. you will be ordering it in for the customer) the OVERRIDE code will work as well and can be edited in the stockcard history later – see the "Adding/Editing serial number details" section.

Important: Due to the requirement for a serial number of each item you cannot change the quantity (F9) on this product in a sale but will be advised accordingly.

  • The details about the items sale will be added to the Serial Number history alongside the purchase details – viewable in the stockcard (accessed via stockcard, F6 [Stats], F9 [Serial Nbrs]). The original sales details are shown in the top section of the screen. When the item line is highlighted, full details about this item can be seen at the bottom of the screen.

Till Mode

Important: Serial Number details are not selectable whilst in Till Mode. You will receive a prompt advising accordingly.

  • Remember to record the serial number sold.
  • Once the system has been returned to normal (out of Till mode) you should edit the Serial History – see the "Adding/Editing serial number details" section.
  • Also, you can recall and edit the transaction itself in Recall Transactions (in POS), delete the product line and re-add the same product, at which time you will be prompted to 'scan, type in or select' serial number, as normal.
