Note: All prices and mark-ups are examples only

Vouchers can be used (for example) when a pharmacy administers flu vaccinations to staff from local businesses without charging them, and then for reporting back to those businesses. The voucher (which has an equal but negative value to the vaccination) is processed in the same Toniq visit as the script for the vaccination, making it zero cost to the patient.

1. Set an NS Retail Price on the Flu Vaccination

If the Standard Price Parameters, the global price settings, does not price flu vaccinations to the desired amount, a Retail (shop) price can be set:

  • From the main menu, go to 2. Stock control, then 4. Maintain Medicine
  • Open the current flu vaccination stock-card
  • Set a Retail price, tick Proportional shop pricing, and press F12 Accept Details

Note: the pack size for Afluria Quad 2021 is 10, so the Retail price should be set to 10 times the required price of one injection. In the example below, one vaccination will price at $35.00 non-subsidised:

  • Also ensure that Use shop price if greater than prescription item price is ticked in General options (from the main menu go to 7. Administration, 1. Setup, then 5. General options and press F11 Next page twice):

When a script for a flu vaccination is processed after the above steps have been taken, it will prompt and price as shown:

Answering Yes to the above prompt will price the script to the shop price of $35.00. (A No response will price the script according to the Standard price parameters, in this example $28.10.)

2. Set the Voucher Price

  • From the main menu, go to 2. Stock control, then 4. Maintain Medicine
  • Find Voucher Discount stock-card

Note: if it has never been used, you may need to use F7 Show Hidden to find it

  • Put in a Retail price to the negative value of 1 vaccination (e.g. it would be -$35.00 for the example above)
  • Set the Fee tick-box, delete the Dispensing note on the second page of the stock-card, return to the original screen (which will look like the image below), and press F12 Accept Details to save:

Note: if Voucher Discount is already set up for a different purpose, a new stock-card can be created with the same settings but a different name to be used instead.

3. Set an Alternate NS Price (optional)

If the vaccinations for voucher holders are priced differently to regular customers, e.g. at a discounted rate, it is possible to set two different prices:

  • Set the Retail price for voucher-holders as described above
  • Put the NSS markup to 0%, delete the NSS disp. fee (if not already $0.00), then press F12 Accept Details
  • Do a mock dispensing of the vaccination, but stop when the pricing displays:

  • Calculate the NSS disp. fee that needs to be entered to get the required vaccination price for non-voucher-holders by doing the following sum:

desired vaccination price minus the current NSS Price (circled in screenshot above)

e.g.: if a $40 charge for vaccinations is required using the example in the above screenshot:

40 – 12.40 = 27.60

NB: the Disp fee on the vaccination needs to be 0 (zero) for this calculation to work.

  • Now return to the vaccination stock-card and put the calculated figure into the NSS disp. fee field:

  • Remember to press F12 Accept Details to save these settings

If all the above steps have been followed, a script entered for a flu vaccination will prompt with the following:

Answering Yes for people who have a voucher will price the script at $35.00, while Nwill charge $40.00 to regular customers.
